You do not need a permit to build a fence. It is
your responsibility to locate your own property lines. There are also separate restrictions for
fences depending what yard fences are to be built in. Contact City Hall for
further information regarding fences.
The Official Zoning Map for the City of Algona
is kept in the Public Works Director’s office. Zoning of a property can be
determined by either call City Hall or stopping at City Hall during normal
business hours.
If unable to locate the
property pins and need specific dimensions for the project or questions, the
City of Algona suggests contacting a licensed land surveyor to survey the
property.

Any room used for sleeping
requires an egress window with a minimum of 5.7 square feet clear area. Maximum
sill height is 42".
